Community Relations

At Wirreanda Secondary School we see a child’s education as a partnership between the school, families and the local community. We place great importance on the contribution made by all of all these people. We encourage their involvement, and strive to develop and maintain strong community links.

Wirreanda Secondary School has a long history of family involvement.

We are fortunate to have volunteers from both our family and wider community. Volunteers work in a variety of areas including Governing Council and its various sub committees, the Learning Hub, The Learner Wellbeing Centre, Canteen, Grounds, Science, Sport, Home Economics, and the Administration area.

The Department for Education requires all volunteers to undergo a Child Related Criminal History Screening through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion. This can be organised by the school.

Volunteers are also required to have an understanding of Mandatory Reporting and need to view the Department for Education’s  PowerPoint “Responding to Abuse and Neglect. Education and Care Induction Sessions for Volunteers”
