Career Education and Pathways Strategy
The Career Education and Pathways Strategy at Wirreanda Secondary School (WSS) aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful transitions from school to further education, training, or employment. It aligns with the National Career Development Strategy, ensuring all students can manage their careers throughout life, enhancing their wellbeing and workforce participation.
Vision
WSS is committed to high expectations, innovation, and continuous improvement in Career Education. We aim to develop students’ Career Management competencies, prioritising wellbeing and informed decision-making about various pathways.
Beliefs
At WSS, we believe every student should:
- access high-quality career education for informed career decisions, subject selections, VET enrollment, and post-school pathways
- develop employability and interpersonal skills through diverse activities
- experience career exploration via work experience, site visits, and industry-driven learning
- participate in career-related activities such as higher education information sessions and career expos
- access Vocational Education and Training (VET) and School-Based Apprenticeships to enhance employment opportunities
- develop skills to search and access up-to-date information about work trends and opportunities
- engage in volunteering to develop lifelong skills while contributing to the community.

- navigate and manage the transition from school with necessary skills and capabilities
- engage with community opportunities for lifelong skill development.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to support students’ aspirations, SACE completion, and understanding of Career Education. Staff are guided to enhance Career Education knowledge, link curriculum to workforce skills, and collaborate with the community and employers.
Career Education and Pathways Goals
WSS uses the South Australian Career Learning Outcomes Framework (CLOF) to develop students’ Career Management Competencies. The framework informs career education programs, guiding staff in holistic student career development and providing tailored support.
