Middle School Program
Wirreanda Secondary School is committed to providing high quality, innovative, challenging and responsive educational programs to cater for the learning needs of all our students. We have a commitment to supporting students to achieve their potential.
Our innovative and rigorous academic program allows our students to prepare for the future by becoming active members of our global society. By immersing our Year 7 to 10 students in the Australian Curriculum, students are challenged to achieve their potential in their desired pathways.
We further develop our students’ potential through specialised learning programs and methodologies based on trauma informed practice and Positive Behaviour for Learning. All learning programs are engaging, purposeful and challenging, allowing students to develop the skills required to be an effective learner.
Our school specialises in the curriculum areas of Science, Mathematics, English, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts and Health & Physical Education. All students undertake a common curriculum with increasing subject choice occurring in Years 9, 10 and Senior School.
Students in Year 7 and 8 cover the following learning areas:

House Culture and Home Group
The house culture at Wirreanda Secondary School shapes the foundation upon which we operate day to day and through this we support students to understand Positive Behaviour for Learning.
A positive house culture fosters an environment where diversity is celebrated, collaboration is encouraged, and a sense of belonging is cultivated. It becomes a microcosm of the wider world, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their future endeavours.
At Wirreanda we have three Houses:
- Jonker
- Wheeler
- Osborne
Within Years 7 and 8, our Home Groups and core classes are divided by house to enable students to connect with those in their house and to enable strong relationships with staff members and House Leaders. Our House Leaders expertly guide students and families through Middle School and Senior School. Within Years 9 to 12 Home Groups consist of students from all three houses which allows for greater skill development and diversity.
