Career Awareness Month Events Opportunity: Frenchie for a Day
Where: Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy, 20 North Parade Port Adelaide SA 5015 When: 22 August 9:30am-2:30pm

Description: Through a trainer-led tour at the Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy, students can learn how to tie a maritime knot, spend time on a virtual reality simulator, have a life raft explained while being able to jump into one and handle a fire extinguisher. The students will then be given a tour of the One and All Sailing Ship where they can learn about maritime careers and experience some hands-on activities while aboard.
In order to access this event, students must be supervised by a parent or guardian. The school will not be facilitating this activity, students will need to register and attend independently if interested with a parent or guardian.

Where: Edinburgh Road, Edinburgh, SA 5111 When: Thursday 15 August Time: Session 1 (9:30-10:30am), Session 2: 10:45-11:45am), Session 3: 12:30-1:30pm) or Session 4: 1:30-2:30pm FIP Connection: Defence
Description: Forming a part of the Edinburgh Defence Precinct, RAAF Edinburgh is primarily home to the Air Warfare Centre, and No 92 Wing’s AP-3C Orion and P-8A Poseidon aircraft which conduct surveillance operations throughout Australia’s airspace. The broader precinct is a key national defence research and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance hub and consists of: • RAAF Edinburgh (RAAF-E) • Defence Science and Technology (DST) • Edinburgh Parks If you’re interested in a defence career, this Tour will showcase what opportunities are available and learn more about what happens on a Base like this.

Where: Friday 3 August, Thurs 8 August, Friday 16 August, or Friday 23 August When: 11am-1pm

Description: The Advanced Welder Training Centre lets you have a hands-on experience in augmented reality. In this unique 2-hour program students will be able to practice, analyse and review welding techniques with instant feedback in a digital environment, and will learn about Naval Shipbuilding, Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing.
In order to access this event, students must be supervised by a parent or guardian. The school will not be facilitating this activity, students will need to register and attend independently if interested with a parent or guardian.
